TOWARDS UTOPIA – A SAATCHI COLLECTION

01.06.2021

I am thrilled to announce that my paintings Red Line 4 and What Have You Done? have been selected for the Saatchi Art collection Towards Utopia. Curated by Bethany Fincher, this collection explores themes of liberation, empowerment, and the potential for queer futures—even utopia.

As Bethany Fincher remarks, many of these works are figurative, which doesn’t come as a surprise in 2021 when the body is a locus of political debate, and at times a literal battleground subject to violence and censorship. “For these artists, making art about the body can be an act of reclaiming oneself, exploring one’s potential, and championing marginalized communities. The pieces in this collection revel in pleasure, reckon with pain, and together propose a radical vision for an empowered, loving, and liberated future.”

A selection of artwork from this collection, including my own, will be displayed on a digital screen in the lobby of The William Vale Hotel in Brooklyn throughout this month.

Enjoy the collection and celebrate with us the dream of a queer world!
